  1. Good morning,
Could you please give us some advice? We bought three non registered Wiltipoll ewes last year to act as lawn mowers. One of the girls came with fleece which did not seem to shed. Now she has a second fleece over the top of the first and this is not appearing to shed either. She has some straggly bits but the most is in place. Is it possible that genetically she may not shed and we need to get her sheared? I contacted where we purchased them from and they were not very helpful.

    Kind regards

    • Hi Julie, oh what a pain. We purchased our original flock from a registered stud breeder specifically to avoid this problem ourselves. You may have to shear this ewe. Every year I watch our ewes and some do maintain the fleece for a lot longer than others , generally by summer they all look like they have been shorn. Out of curiosity I grabbed a fist full from one such ewe with a back line of fleece still on and it came away very easily. Sorry, i am not much help.
